My Alarm Clock App Reviews
I paid for this app to wake me up over the free version. I do NOT expect to have daily annoyances to leave a rating. Here... Happy? I left a rating because you made an app that fuctions well, but becomes a total annoyance for a paying customer
Locks up
I have used this for the last two nights. Both nights it just eventually freezes. Not worth the money at all
It’s an alright alarm clock, at the very least it’s clean and uncluttered. The ‘rate me’ popups are annoying in their frequency but the biggest issue is that it just flat-out doesn’t play well with multiple monitors at ALL, moreso than most other apps in OS X. Fair enough value for its cost, but all things equal, I probably wouldn’t buy it again.
I’d really like the application icon to appear at the top of my screen along with the date and volume etc. The information I need to start setting alarms is right there. Other than that….I think the app is great !!!
It’s alright. Nothing special about it nor something that bad about it. It “hopefully” does what its suppose to do. I just downloaded it. Looks nice. It’s not accepting my location nor my zip code for the weather so that’s a bummer, which in turn, takes off a star in the rating… Please FIX That!
This app has a good set of features and generally does what I need it to do, but it has an annoying bug: the alarm times will change by a few minutes after the alarm goes off. For example, when my 7:50 alarm goes off and I stop it, it will sometimes change to 7:51. I have to reset at least one of the alarms almost every day.
since I updated the alarm clock I can not turn it off. Before I updated it worked great I used it everyday now I have to go get a old school alarm the snooze or shut off wont do anything. In order to get it to turn off I have to completly shut down my mac book. Ive contacted apple support and they have done nothig.
This app is a great idea. The themes are nice, but color schemes for the last few themes arent very customizable. Support for external monitors is very buggy, if at all. I don’t want to leave my mac display on for 8-10hrs a night simply because I know electronic screens aren’t everlasting and I would like to preserve my screen as long as I can :-) The app takes almost 5 minutes to respond after waking up from the alarm and attempting to shut it off. Interface is overall not very user-friendly, it has no animations/etc. to add a ‘realaistic’ feel when using the app, it’s very static and almsot too simple. Please add settings/support for dual monitors, clean up some bugs, and add a few more cusitimzations and i’ll give a better rating. Not worth my $2.99 until these are met.
Needed a alarm clock for those nights I stay up longer than I should; this fit the bill perfectly. I could have gotten along w/ the free version fine, but I have used and enjoyed this program soo much, I figured I would throw the developers some coin for their efforts and get the paid version. I like the classic, glossy look and intuitive settings. Very nice to pick the sound you want. I chose the alarm that sounded like my pink, Hot Topic alarm clock from back in college. That sound is still engrained into my skull and is guarunteed to wake me up. ;)
Will Not Download
This app will not download no matter what I do. It remains in suspended “wait” mode. $2.99 useless!!!
Ive had this app for several months now and I consider it one of the best. Great job. I have sent my sugestion to the developer, that would jump this in to the future and make it a 10 star app. BM
Wont work
I bought this app and it worked great for about a week. It hasnt worked for two weeks.
This app looks great in full screen and the rich detail of each clock skin looks great. (C-Motion isn’t really my thing, but it fills a niche for someone.) Only addition I’d pass to the app developers is build this app into the OSX Screen Savers.
This app was my go-to alarm during business trips, but ever since I’ve been using Yosemite, beta and final, my Macbook would get locked up during the screensaver and during times when the alarm was to sound. Needless to say, after about the 3rd time it failed to wake me because of these issues, I had to move on from it. I enjoyed the attractive alarm screens and graphics, but I need a working alarm clock, not more wallpaper. I just can’t trust it to do its job any longer, but I wish I could. Wake Up Time Pro is what I moved on too.
I have this thing set to play music I like, so when it goes off I don’t turn the alarm off right away. For some reason this app seems to think because I let the music play it means I should be getting up later and later. IT AUTOMATICALLY CHANGED MY ALARM FOR A LATER TIME!! I don’t know what type of adaptive/anticipatory programming you have on this thing but it needs to stop and just do what I tell it to do.
I really like having an alarm app on my computer. My Mac Mini is hooked up to my large screen TV, and I use my TV as a monitor. The whole set up is in my media room/den/study which is in the center of the house. It isn’t in my bedroom so the wake up function is something I never intend to use. I didn’t need an alarm to wake me up in the morning, but I bought the paid version because I needed multiple reminders for different tasks I need to be reminded of during the day. It is really nice for that and the full screen “antique clock” skin makes the computer/large screen TV very classy looking during times when I am not using it. I love that I can set multiple alarms, each with a different sound so that I can be reminded to stay on task during my waking hours. Since I am a chronic night owl, I especially like setting a bedtime alarm (to remind that it is time to turn off the computer and head toward the bedroom), and I love the soft relaxing sounds that come with that particular function. I have used it for 2 days and so far it seems to work well. Every alarm I have set has reliably gone off on time. There are some bugs that need to be fixed, but none of them are deal breakers for me. The biggest issue is that when my computer needs to shut down to install updates, MY ALARM CLOCK prevents shutting down. It won’t simply allow the computer to automatically close it, like all other programs and apps. Nope. I have to MANUALLY shut this app down in order for the update to proceed, thus defeating the purpose of automatic updates. I really hate when apps cannot quietly fit in with the overall functions of the computer and require special attention in situations that should be automatic. I also don’t like that this app interupts me for things like "requests to leave a review". When I pay money for an app, I shouldn’t be wrangling the app’s self serving requests. The only interuptions that are acceptable are the alarms that I have set. All other communication really should be emailed to me so that I can read it at my convenience. This app should only ask for my attention when I have set an alarm. When an app behaves like this, I call it “bossy”. I don’t like bossy apps - I should be in charge of my computer and the apps should just do their job. However, I have now left a review and so I hope the app will be satisfied and leave me alone. This kind of thing is really rude. And, as other reviewers have mentioned, there is some slight drift on the alarm times. This is disconcerting, but nothing that troubles me since resetting the alarms is easy - and when I turn off any given alarm I am at the computer anyway so it is no big deal. AND the weather function is pretty useless to me because it won’t accept my city and state, and it thinks my zip code is somewhere in Arizona, even though I live in Colorado. So, I’m not sure why the developers even bother to give the app this feature when it doesn’t work. All in all, it is OK. I struggle a bit with the functionality, especially the issue of the app not shutting down when the computer tries to restart. But $2.99 is pretty reasonable and certainly less money that buying an alarm clock at Wal Mart. There are some things that don’t work properly, but the main function is to alert me at specific times and it does that well. I will probably try another alarm app to in the near future to see if a different one functions better, but this will do for now.
El Jefe
So far it meets all the criteria i was looking for.
Billed as an alarm clock, which is exactly what is. What I was looking for was a full screen clock, with added features such as a stop watch, timer, etc. My fault for not reading closer. I upgraded to pro for $2.99. No big deal. My one legitinate complaint is that the clock disappears when I enlarge the clock to full screen. I have an iMac 5K - guess the app can’t accomodate my screen size.
I was just looking for a simple alarm clock app that does what its suppose to. For the most part that is true. The app frequently freezes when I am in full screen mode and will not let me exit it for several minutes at a time. Some times it will stay frozen for so long ill have to restart my computer just to get to the desktop. I bought the full version hoping that it would stop this problem but it didn’t which os frustrating. My advice is don’t buy the full version, the free one does the same thing unless you want differt color font otions and need to be woken up by your own music instead of its stadard alarm tones.
For $2.99...
You’d expect this thing to work. Everytime I hit stop on the alarm, it resets itself forward 1 minute and goes off again. Lame.
